New year is a very special holiday for the Japanese people.
Why?
Because, it somehow resets the mind, and makes people very positive.
How do we celebrate this special holiday?
Traditionally, all the shops were closed from Dec 31 till Jan 3.
On Dec 31, we eat SOBA noodles with the family to close the year.
Till Jan 3, we survive with delicious lunch box (above), MOCHI soup, and SAKE.
All the contents in the lunch box has a meaning for example:
Lobster: long life
Fish eggs: multiply
Beans: work hard
Egg roll: education
Small orange & chestnut cream : lucky
On Dec 31, our carpenters were featured in one of major broadcasting TV.
Our business started this year from Jan 5, and this column starts today.
Wishing you all peace, happiness, and the best of new year.
